Chris Tomlin Concert for my birthday!

>> Monday, March 31, 2014

Every year in March I have another birthday and this year I am feeling so old! Sometimes it feels like just yesterday that I was in college. But hanging out with college students makes me realize how old I really am!

Early in March I learned that Chris Tomlin was coming to the Middle East and I wanted this concert to be my birthday present! All of the details worked out for us to drive through Saudi to be able to be at this concert on March 20th!

Driving through Saudi was mostly boring except for the times we saw camels on the side of the road.
The crazy thing is that there aren't any fences up so the camels sometimes even get onto the road. Of course this is so dangerous since they're so big. It's not a good idea to drive through here at night for this reason.
These camels were just off the road so we stopped to watch them for a bit.
We liked seeing the camel shepherd trying to keep the herd together.

Here's a video of the shepherd herding the camels:

The concert was the next day in the evening so we slept in at our hotel and relaxed. Then we took the kids to the swimming pool and they were happy!

We got there when the tickets said it was going to start at 5:30, which we thought was early for a concert. We waited in line for quite a while before they let us in. But that's ok, we were so excited and happy to be there together.

The concert was an outdoor venue and the weather was perfect! I am so thankful that my wonderful husband pulled this off! He's so good to us!
There was sometime special about seeing Jesus' name glorified in the Middle East! I loved it!
We met some friends there who we know from Albuquerque. It was such a treat to worship with them!
This is a blurry picture, but I loved being there with my boy! He's such a special boy, a huge blessing in my life!

Faith loved jumping for the songs! She's so much fun to watch when she's worshipping and excited about praising God! What a joy it is to have Faith a part of our family!

Here's a group shot with our friends! We got to have breakfast with them the next day too! What a treat!
We stayed very close to this mosque, which is one of the world's largest mosques. It's beautiful.
Joseph and Faith had a fun time taking pictures on our trip too! Joseph has especially become a little photographer!

Here are some of his pictures:

The day after the concert we drove down to Liwa where there are some amazing sand dunes! It was breathtaking.

Can you tell that this is Joseph climbing up the dune?

This might be my favorite picture! Running down the sand dunes!

We were only in Liwa for an afternoon and then we left the next day.
Back through the land of camels!
We stayed one night in Saudi to meet up with some friends.
