Mount Nebo

On Friday we went to Mount Nebo. It was one of the things on our list of things we wanted to do. Mount Nebo is where Moses died. After he died Joshua took over leadership and led God's people into the promised land.
Before we got there we talked with the kids about what we were going to see. We explained that Moses wasn't allowed to enter the promised land because of an instance of disobedience. Numbers 20:12 But the Lord said to Moses and Aaron, “Because you did not trust in me enough to honor me as holy in the sight of the Israelites, you will not bring this community into the land I give them.”
The view from the top of Mount Nebo really was amazing.
People have told us that when it's a very clear day you can see Jerusalem. It was nice to have this chart that showed some of the cities within view of this mountain.
Here's another family pic at Mount Nebo.
Tim took a panoramic picture from up here.
This was an ancient stone that was on display. The kids pretended like it was the stone in front of Jesus' tomb and they were trying to roll it away! haha!
This made me smile! Jesus was baptized in the Jordan river that's not too far from here. So the name of the grocery store is probably for tourists like us that go to see the sites!

It was a good opportunity to talk with our kids about how Jesus was the only perfect person who ever lived. We also talked about God's grace in allowing Moses to see the land that his descendants would inherit.

We also stopped at a place where many mosaics are made. They're beautiful.

Emma and I love the pictures you posted. Joseph and Faith are REALLY strong to roll that stone away. I'm here visiting Karla and the kids. We'd have loved to have seen Mt. Nebo with you.
