Driving through Saudi Arabia
>> Friday, February 17, 2012
We drove for 17 hours through Saudi Arabia to get to Amman, Jordan! We stayed in a hotel one night, so we didn't do it all in one day. As soon as we crossed the border into Saudi, we felt like we were in a different world. They drive differently, they dress differently, they think differently.
I wore the Abaaya and Sheila the entire trip and I got kind of used to it! The town that we stayed overnight was very conservative. I felt exposed there because my face was revealed! The other ladies that I saw only exposed their eyes.
We were thankful that we know enough Arabic to follow the signs to Jordan!
One of the days we had lunch at a park! It was so nice to get out of the car for a little bit!
In Saudi, women are not allowed to drive, so Tim did all of the driving! He just put an audio book on and it kept his interest!
We saw a lot of camels on the side of the road! Camels are fun to watch!
The kids did great! They had a few toys, some books, and watched movies on the ipod!
Here's some more pictures, if you're interested:

Cool! You got some great pictures of the camels! Usually they are to far away. Glad you guys enjoyed your trip!
