Seeing Grandma in Germany

>> Saturday, October 3, 2015

The last week of September, Eve and I took a little trip to Germany. We went to meet up with my mom, who came from the States. We had a wonderful week just hanging out together. It was such a nice time for Grandma and Eve to meet and get to know each other.

We had such a nice time taking things slowly because we had to stop frequently to care for Eve. This time was such a gift for all three of us. Such treasured memories!

It was so different to prepare for traveling by myself with an infant. I snapped this picture once I got on the flight to Germany. The flight departed around midnight and arrived in Frankfurt around 6am. I was tired when I got there, but Eve slept on the plane without any problem.
We only spent the first night in Frankfurt before we drove about an hour south to stay at an apartment in a little village close to Heidelberg. All of the villages were so cute. I just love the German style homes. They look like gingerbread houses.
The weather was so nice most of the time and cloudy some too. The cloudy weather was such a nice change for me!
Grandma loved holding Eve so that I could eat when we were out at a restaurant.

Here's a video of Grandma playing with Eve one night when we went out for dinner.

We used the stroller some and the baby carrier some while we were out. Eve didn't mind the bumpy cobblestone roads at all.
This picture was taken in the town square of Heidelberg. It was such a nice place to spend time!
Here's another shot from the town square with the castle in the background.
We rode a little tram up to the castle.
Here's the view of Heidelberg from the castle. So beautiful. You can see the old bridge.

We got to enjoy some German food outside in the town square. So nice.

Grandma bought Eve a German doll. I think she likes it.

This would have been a good picture, if you could see Eve's face.
We spent a lot of time at the apartment we rented. Grandma loved holding Eve! Eve loved being held by her. It was a special time.

Here's a video to give you an idea of how we spent a lot of our time. Just hanging out and enjoying being together.

There were lots of bikes around.

One day we took a little boat ride on the river in Heidelberg. It was fun!

One day Grandma and Eve took a little walk in the woods while I took a nap. They had a good time.

We had fun just being together and doting on Eve.
On our last day we took one last little walk in the woods. Once we got to the top of this hill, it was a beautiful view!!
A selfie in the woods.
Just a fun German house around the corner from the apartment we stayed in.
Walking in the woods.
Isn't that beautiful?!
This was where we stayed. It was a perfect little place for us.
Grandma loved giving Eve baths in the sink. This one was at the hotel in Frankfurt the night before we flew out. We had such a great time together.
On the flight home we got the bassinet on the airplane! It was so nice for Eve to sleep and I just put my feet up and relaxed! She did great traveling.

When we got home Eve was so cute looking up at her Daddy, and siblings! They missed her and it seems like she missed them too. I was glad to be home with my family too, but so thankful for the sweet memories I made with my mom.
