Jerash & The Dead Sea

>> Monday, July 8, 2013

We have a few things on our list of things to do and see while we're here in Jordan. The Dead Sea was on the top of the list, but we ended up going to Jerash first because there was a festival going on there.

We went on Friday night and it was busy leaving the city of Amman. Thankfully, it's only a 30 minute drive north of Amman.
On our drive we saw so much beauty, but I was struck once again by a church with crosses on top!
The mountains and hills that are everywhere are so different from what we're used to seeing.
Seeing the mountains and the greenery has really blessed my Colorado heart! So refreshing!
The Jerash ruins were really fun to experience!
The pillars are huge!
Joseph and Faith enjoyed exploring and climbing around the Roman ruins.

The next day we went a different route and headed southwest toward the Dead Sea. Driving through the mountains was beautiful!
We went to this resort for the day and the kids LOVED the pools!
Here's Tim's first experience in the Dead Sea! It's so crazy how you float in this extremely salty water. It's something you can't experience anywhere else.
Here's Tim and Joseph floating together.
Joseph got some of the salt water in his eyes and it reallllly hurts. There are some tanks with fresh water on hand in case this happens. So we just hosed him down and he was fine.
Here's a picture of me and the kids floating in the Dead Sea!
This was the favorite part of our day! It was so much fun to see them having so much fun!
