I'm thankful for forgiveness

I mess up all the time. I wish I didn't, but I do. I am often overwhelmed by my own sinfulness. God is always so good to me, though. He forgives my sin and draws me close. Even in the midst of disciplining me, he shows me that it's His Kindness that leads to repentance and that He wants only to restore me so that I can be close to Him again.

I love the promise in 1 John 1:9 "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness." 

I recently saw this illustration. It really touched my heart. I wrote my sins on a piece of paper and then put it into a bowl of water. Very quickly the sin was washed away and the paper disappeared. It's a beautiful picture of what God does with our sins when we seek His forgiveness.
